Introduction of colour painted rail tracks

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state :-
(a) whether Government proposes to introduce colour – painted rail tracks to avoid track fracture and erosion; and
(b) if so, the details of the projects to be implemented and sections selected for such rail painting work on priority?

(a) & (b) Guidelines for anti-Corrosion painting of rails exist in Indian Railway Permanent Way Manual (IRPWM). Anti Corrosion bituminous painting of rails is generally done by field officials while laying new rails during track renewal /doubling /other construction projects and during maintenance of existing tracks in corrosion prone areas on Indian Railways.
