WR CLARIFIES REGARDING VALIDITY OF Ist CLASS PASS IN AC LOCAL TRAIN
Western Railway has clarified that as per the demand from passengers, the proposal for allowing First class pass holders of non-AC locals for travelling in AC Local train by paying difference is mooted but has not yet received necessary approval from competent authority.

In view of some media reports that existing first class passes will be valid in air-conditioned trains by paying the difference to the ticket checker present board in the AC train, it is clarified that no final decision has been taken in this regard yet. Though WR is open to suggestions from commuters and also have facilitated this, by providing a separate head ‘AC local : Suggestions’ its website. After due consideration with respect to all aspects a decision will be taken at appropriate level, whether a first class pass holder be allowed to travel in AC train paying the difference. Till then, existing rules & fare structure will follow. Commuters are requested to adhere to the present arrangement to avoid any inconvenience. Wide publicity will also be given, through official mediums whenever any decision in this matter will be taken by the competent authority.
