Indian Railways will increase the speed of trains on the busiest rail routes of the country. Delhi-Howrah and Delhi-Mumbai will travel at a speed of only 12 hours and 160 km / h.

After approval of the Central Govt, Mumbai – Delhi route will be upgraded to run Rajdhani Express at 160 kmph to cut the travel time to nearly 10 hrs.
Mission Raftaar Train List
The Mission Raftar has been announced in the Railway Budget 2016-17, aiming to increase the speed of trains on Indian Railways. The aim is to double the average speed of freight trains and increase the average speed of all non-suburban commuter trains by 25 km over the next 5 years.
The primary ways to increase speed under the mission rafters have been identified. These are the six routes – Delhi – Mumbai, Delhi – Howrah, Howrah – Chennai, Chennai – Mumbai, Delhi – Chennai and Howrah – Mumbai.
These six routes account for 58% of freight traffic and 52% of training traffic on 16% of the network.
