Train services resume on Srinagar-Baramulla section in Kashmir
In Jammu & Kashmir, the train services on Srinagar-Baramulla section of the Northern Railways resumed Tuesday morning. The services remained suspended for over three-and-a-half months since 5th August when the Centre revoked J&K’s special status under provisions of Article 370 and bifurcated the State into two Union Territories.
Northern Railways officials told that two pairs of trains will run between Srinagar and north Kashmir’s Baramulla station and vice versa. The section is 57 kilometres long, with a total seven stations, including Srinagar & Baramulla stations.

The officials said the first train with 50 passengers on board departed from Srinagar’s Nowgam Railway station at 1005 hrs while passing through Budgam and other four smaller stations to reach around 1145 hrs Baramulla Junction. They said the first train from Baramulla was scheduled to leave at 1155 hrs to reach Srinagar’s main Station at Nowgam around 1340 hrs.
Similarly, another train from Srinagar Station left at 1110 hours, with six passengers on board to reach Baramulla around 1300 hrs. The 2nd train from Baramulla Station will also run accordingly to reach Srinagar. They added train services on Srinagar-Qazigund-Banihal Sections shall resume only after receipt of necessary advisory from Divisional Administration Kashmir.
