New Broad Gauge Line between Jaklair-Makthal Commissioned

The New Broad Gauge Non Electrified Main line between Jaklair–Makthal stations for a distance of 11.477 Kms has been completed in all respects. Commissioner, Railway Safety has inspected this non-electrified New B.G Line and has given certification as fit to run passenger train services with immediate effect. This important stretch is a part of Mahbubnagar – Munirabad section which is border belt of Telangana & Karnataka States. South Central Railway is constructing new BG line from Devarkadra to Krishna as a part of this Project.

The project will help in expanding rail network between Hyderabad and Mining belt of Karnataka, benefitting both the Passenger and goods traffic. South Central Railway has taken up the New Broad Gauge line Project between Devarkadra-Krishna for a distance of 65.825 Kms. The project was sanctioned in the year 2011-12with an estimated cost of Rs. 372.09 Cr.

The section between Devarkadra and Krishna is the most accessible shortest route to many important cities of Southern States, from where Railway lines going towards Hyderabad, Raichur, Guntakal, Bellary, Hubli, Goa and the Telangana Capital Hyderabad. Iron ore and other bulk commodities such as Cement, Steel etc., are being moved on this route to North and South directions.

Hyderabad Division Officials along with Construction department have played key role in successful completion of the Project. Shri Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway has congratulated all the Officials and staff involved in completion of this vital project of Telangana region. He opined that completion of this project has paved way for connecting new areas with passenger trains. He also advised to maintain the same tempo in execution of the work for the entire project which will help to ease out the traffic congestion.
