Conduct of Pension Adalats on Railways
The intention of conducting Pension Adalats is to examine the grievances of pensioners so as to redress the same by taking on the spot decisions and to obviate the delays, if any, in the settlement of their dues. Such a step would go a long way in instilling a sense of being cared for and attended to in the minds of pensioners and thus dispel their feeling of neglect and isolation.
There are more than 13 lakh pensioners in the Railways, of whom 2,30,409 are in the age group of 80-90 years and 55,684 in the 90-100 age group.
The 7th Pay Commission – Total pension paid by the Government of India, 21 per cent is paid to the Railway Employees in the age group of 80-90 and four per cent in the 90-100 age group
There are 18 Railway zones Northern Railway Delhi, North Eastern Railway Gorakhpur, Northeast Frontier Railway Guwahati, Central Railway Mumbai, Western Railway Mumbai, East Coast Railway Bhubanesar, North Central Railway Allahabad, East Central Railway Hajipur, Eastern Railway Kolkata, North Western Jaipur, Southern Railway Chennai, South East Central Bilaspur, South Eastern Kolkata, South Western Hubli, South Central Secunderabad, West Central Jabalpur, KolKata Metro Kolkata, Konkan Railway Mumbai in India.
