Delhi Airport check-in facility commences from Shivaji Stadium Metro Station

New Delhi: Delhi International Airport (P) Limited (DIAL) a GMR led in association with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the Delhi Airport City check-In facility from Shivaji Stadium Metro station. Jet Airways has started the operations from both New Delhi Railway Station as well as Shivaji Stadium Metro Station.

This facility would help many airport bound passengers who can now check-in at these two city centres for their convenience. So far, limited city-check-in facility was available for Air India passengers only at New Delhi station of the Airport Express Line.

Commenting on the occasion I Prabhakara Rao, CEO, DIAL, said, “We take pride in introducing such customer centric innovations for our passengers. The Capital city of the country attracts lakhs of tourists from all over the world. The tourists will now have the freedom to check in their baggage well in advance at New Delhi and Shivaji Metro Station of Airport Express Line and freely visit places of their choice in the city before coming to the airport.

Once they reach the airport, they can spend their time exploring various attractions at Delhi Airport instead of doing the check-in formalities. Besides a great deal of convenience, Delhi Airport’s City check in facility will contribute favourably in Carbon Footprint reduction. We have one of the world’s most sophisticated Baggage Handling System (BHS) that seamlessly supports the remote check in facility. Keeping the customer centricity paramount, we are confident that our focus has been in the right direction.”

Passengers of Air India and Jet Airways can check in their baggage from these two Metro stations from 02 hours to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. The flight check-in facility from the stations would close two hours prior to the departure time.

The airport passengers can obtain their boarding pass at the city check-in counter and check-in the luggage as well. The checked-in baggage will be transferred to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport’s T-3, through a secured Baggage Handling System (BHS). The highly sophisticated BHS ensures that baggage reaches airport in time. Free luggage trolleys are also available for passengers at the entry gates and platforms at all Metro stations of the Airport Express Line.

Anuj Dayal, Executive Director (Corporate Communications/DMRC), said, “The introduction of check-in facility from Shivaji Stadium along with New Delhi Metro station of Airport Express Line will greatly help all those passengers bound for IGI Airport from the city centre or farther parts of the Delhi-NCR. This facility will not only help in decongesting the Airport premises but also help reduce the carbon footprints when people are encouraged to avail the check-in facility from these two stations of the Airport Express Line, which can take them to Airport in just 19 minutes straight from New Delhi. This facility is something which will be of immense benefit for the travellers.”

Gaurang Shetty, Whole-time Director, Jet Airways, added, “Jet Airways is pleased to announce the commencement of its metro check-in services. The airline’s guests in Delhi using the city’s efficient Metro service may now check-in for their flights at the metro stations itself, ensuring a more comfortable, seamless and convenient travel experience.”

The introduction of this facility is the outcome of sustained joint efforts by DMRC, DIAL, Air India and Jet airways in the direction of a smooth and comfortable journey both at the Metro stations as well as the Airport.
